Our Story
About us
Oldewood Design Studio emerged as a creative venture during the 2020-2022 pandemic. What began as friends commissioning my work led to my journey as a furniture refurbisher and artist, under the name Máire – Furniture Artist. Over time, I’ve seen growth and evolution, and now, I’m excited to embrace ‘we’ as Oldewood Design Studio continues to evolve.
At the core I’m a creative person and have found my niche as a furniture artist. I’m also a coach, international citizen, teacher and lifelong learner. Refurbishing, repurposing and upcycling furniture is part of my strategy towards environmental sustainability, creative expression and human connection.
Nature provides the most compelling inspiration for most of the pieces I create.
100% refurbished
Each piece receives a complete make-over. Cleaned, polished, waxed, refinished, repaired…
High Quality
Each element is given close attention and high quality refinishing elements are used.
Beautifully finished
We use, wherever possible, oils and waxes to create a durable, eco-friendly finish.
Eco-friendly products
It Is not always possible to use 100% Eco-friendly products but we do Our Best to:
01
Use finishes that are Human and Earth Friendly.
We use natural waxes and oils (e.g. Hemp oil) to create a durable and gorgeous finish on natural wood and painted surfaces.
02
Strip and Clean Our products with Sustainable products
This typically means it takes more time and human labour but we think it is worth it.
03
Keep old pieces In Use
Our motto here is reuse, repurpose, recycle. We focus as much as we can on giving old pieces a new chance in life to keep them out of landfill and in circulation.
